The Buena Bulldogs had to endure an eight-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 67-55 win over Rio Mesa on Tuesday. The win was just what Buena needed coming off of a 70-47 defeat in their prior contest.
Buena got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Luke Ortiz out in front who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 13 rebounds. The contest was Ortiz's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Josh ullegue, who scored 17 points along with nine rebounds and five assists.
Buena's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-8. As for Rio Mesa, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season.
Buena will take on Chaminade in a holiday battle at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at. Chaminade presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Buena in California (Chaminade is ranked 79th, while Buena is ranked 450th). As for Rio Mesa, they will head out on the road to face off against Viewpoint at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Viewpoint will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
