The Crosby Cougars will square off against the La Porte Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
La Porte will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Crosby extended their winning streak to four on Thursday. Crosby claimed a resounding 57-0 win over Fort Bend Kempner. Given Crosby's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 287th, while Fort Bend Kempner is ranked 691st) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.
T-Zion Sutherland was his usual excellent self, rushing for 93 yards and three touchdowns on only nine carries. He got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 51 yards. Another player making a difference was Lott Robison, who threw for 180 yards and one TD.
Crosby's run defense was locked in: Fort Bend Kempner could only muster two yards per carry. While four picked up at least five total tackles, Sirr Soileau stood above the rest. He made five total tackles (1.0 for loss) and snagged an interception which he returned one-yard for a touchdown. Crosby didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 7.7.

Crosby didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Cameron Sonier led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. Soileau is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last six games he's played. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask La Porte). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Porter 67-21. With the Bulldogs ahead 33-7 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
La Porte found their leader in sophomore Sean Simon, who rushed for 227 yards and one score while picking up 11.9 yards per carry. Payton Smith was another key player, picking up 110 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Crosby now has a winning record of 4-3. As for La Porte, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.
Crosby strolled past La Porte in their previous meeting back in November of 2024 by a score of 31-14. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
