Basketball Recap: Saturday's Defeat Ends Gray Collegiate Academy's Winning Streak

It was a good run, but Gray Collegiate Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They received a blow as they fell 58-43 to the Butler Bulldogs.

Despite the loss, Gray Collegiate Academy still got an impressive performance from Kadence Walker-Lee, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds. Walker-Lee is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least nine every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Karlee Phelps, who posted eight points in addition to six rebounds and five assists.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Butler to victory, but perhaps none more so than Rania Curry, who went 6 of 13 on her way to 18 points and four steals. Another player making a difference was Brayla Harris, who had 17 points and eight rebounds.

Gray Collegiate Academy's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Butler, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-1.

Gray Collegiate Academy will welcome Brookland-Cayce at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Brookland-Cayce has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Butler, they will head out to challenge Josey at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Josey is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.3 points per game this season.
