Charleston barely beat Westside the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Charleston Tigers put the hurt on the Westside Rebels with a sharp  27-5 win on Monday. The Tigers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most  runs they've scored all season.
 Hannah Ward made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound,   striking out six batters over  three innings while giving up just two earned  (and three unearned) runs off   two  hits. Ward was also solid in the batter's box,  getting on base  in three of her four plate appearances with one  RBI.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Ella Dodson, who  went 2-for-3 with one  home run, four  runs,  and five  RBI. Those  four  runs gave  her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was  Lakyn Gilbert, who  scored four  runs and  stole a base while going 3-for-4.
 Charleston  always had someone on base and  finished the game having  posted an OBP of .605. That's the best  OBP they've posted all season.
With the  victory, Charleston broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-4. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the  losses came by an average of only 1.75 runs. As for Westside, their defeat was  their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which  dropped their record down to 0-6.
 Looking ahead, Charleston will head out on the road to  face off against  Paris  at 4:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. As for Westside, they will welcome Danville  at 4:30  p.m.  on Tuesday.
