There's no place like home for the Carver Yellowjackets, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They walked away with a 64-57 win over Leadership Academy on Wednesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Leading Carver to victory were Jonathan Gakeri and Jeremiah Glaspie. Gakeri dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds, while Glaspie dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gakeri has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Derick Reid Jr., who scored two points.
Several Falcons players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Will Martin, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Martin hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games. Landon Burleyson was another key contributor, scoring 19 points.
Carver's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-7. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.7 points per game. As for Leadership Academy, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-6 record this season.
Carver will head out on the road to face off against Millennium at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Millennium has now lost ten straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 13. As for Leadership Academy, they will be playing at home against College Prep & Leadership Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully College Prep & Leadership Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Wednesday.
