Grove City and Groveport-Madison are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2015, but not for long. The Grove City Greyhounds will head out on the road to face off against the Groveport-Madison Cruisers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Grove City will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
On Tuesday, Grove City was able to grind out a solid win over St. Francis DeSales, taking the game 62-51. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Grove City has managed all season.
Grove City's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kevin Gallagher, who scored 20 points. Another player making a difference was Kraig Gilbert, who scored 18 points.
Meanwhile, Groveport-Madison pushed their score all the way to 56 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They received a tough blow as they fell 74-56 to Reynoldsburg.
Grove City's win was their third straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.0 points per game. As for Groveport-Madison, their loss dropped their record down to 2-1.
Everything came up roses for Grove City against Groveport-Madison in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 as the squad secured a 71-36 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Grove City since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
