Even though the St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute Marauders scored an imposing 58 points on Saturday, the Ursuline Fighting Irish still came out on top. In a tight game that could have gone either way, Ursuline made off with a 59-58 win over St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute.
Leading Ursuline to victory were Jaylen Gunther and Geno Lucente. Gunther scored 14 points, while Lucente scored 15 points. Another player making a difference was Jayden Payne, who scored 8 points.
Ursuline's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ursuline will take on Devon Prep at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday. As for St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute, they will head out on the road to face off against Williamsville East at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
