The Thomasville Bulldogs will head out to take on the East Wilkes Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Thomasville gave up the first runs on Wednesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They blew past Lexington 13-3. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Yellowjackets recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Leonel Guzman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. He has become a key player for Thomasville: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 6-11 otherwise.
In other batting news, Travail Barnes and Elijah McNeair did most of the damage at the plate: Barnes went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles, while McNeair got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs. That's the most doubles Barnes has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Mkyel Duncan, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs.
Thomasville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lexington only posted an OBP of .423.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but East Wilkes ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They won by a run and slipped past Starmount 6-5. Six seems to be a good number for the Cardinals as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
East Wilkes also got a great performance from Dalton Wood as he didn't allow a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched.
The win made it two in a row for East Wilkes and bumps their season record up to 13-6. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.5 runs across that stretch. As for Thomasville, their record is now 10-11.
Thomasville might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from East Wilkes when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
