The Rio Vista Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. They fell to Itasca 45-39. If Rio Vista hoped to take revenge for the 34-32 defeat against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.
Despite the loss, Rio Vista saw an underclassman step up: Shiloh Johnson dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Johnson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kalli West, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Rio Vista has not been sharp recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-22 record this season. As for Itasca, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 13-17.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rio Vista will square off against Italy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Itasca, they will head out on the road to square off against Hamilton at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hamilton is coming into the match hot, having won their last six games.
