Estrella Foothills has gone a perfect 3-0 against Snowflake recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Wolves will take on the Lobos in a tournament on Thursday. Estrella Foothills came into this matchup off a tough nine-run loss on Monday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Deer Valley by a score of 3-1 on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Wolves have suffered since March 12, 2024.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Tuesday Snowflake sidestepped Blue Ridge for a 9-7 win. That's two games straight that the Lobos have won by exactly two runs.
Kyler Matthews was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over 4.1 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Matthews was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he hit this season.
In other batting news, Snowflake got a massive performance out of Gavin Rausch, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That home run was Rausch's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Aaden Coor, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Snowflake was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Blue Ridge only posted a batting average of .222.
Snowflake pushed their record up to 10-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.3 runs over those games. As for Estrella Foothills, they now have a losing record of 6-7.
Estrella Foothills took their victory against Snowflake in their previous meeting back in April of 2023 by a conclusive 7-1 score. Do the Wolves have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lobos turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
