Softball Recap: Fountain Inn Snags Seventh Victory in Last Eight Games

Fountain Inn hadn't done well against Wren recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Fury put the hurt on the Hurricanes with a sharp 7-1 victory. Considering the Fury have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Halle Baker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits.

On the hitting side, Bethany Brown and Olivia Lieb did most of the damage at the plate: Brown went 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Lieb went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Mia Anderson was another key player, going 1-for-3 with four RBI and one run.

Fountain Inn hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in six consecutive matchups.

Fountain Inn has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.4 runs over those games. As for Wren, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-7.
