Airport has gone 9-1 against South Aiken recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Airport Eagles will head out to square off against the South Aiken Thoroughbreds at 7:00 p.m. South Aiken took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Airport, who comes in off a win.
Airport not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 18, 2024. They were the clear victor by a 15-3 margin over Aiken. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Fighting Green Hornets: they've now won five in a row.
Brice Gillette was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 3-for-5. He also hit two doubles, marking his first of the season.
In other pitching news, Ayden McCauley looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

Back at the plate, Braden Gross was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one triple. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Daniel Butts, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4.
Airport was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, South Aiken didn't have quite enough to beat Brookland-Cayce on Wednesday and fell 6-5.
Airport's record now sits at 4-2. As for South Aiken, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
Everything went Airport's way against South Aiken in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as Airport made off with a 10-4 victory. Does Airport have another victory up their sleeve, or will South Aiken turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
