Volleyball Recap: St. Joseph's Winning Streak Snapped at Five Games

After a string of five wins, St. Joseph's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell 2-0 to the Goliad Tigers. If the Flyers were looking for revenge after losing 2-0 to the Tigers when the teams met back in August of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

The defeat didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Goliad scored at least 17 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-17.

Jordyn Johnston paced St. Joseph's offense, picking up seven kills. Johnston got some help from Zoey Henning and her 11 assists. Finally, Maelee Montgomery kept St. Joseph's defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.

St. Joseph's loss dropped their record down to 20-7. As for Goliad, they pushed their record up to 22-3 with the win, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Joseph will host Victoria East at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Goliad, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Victoria West at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
