After a string of eight wins, the Dana Hills Dolphins's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell to St. Margaret's 52-48. Dana Hills lost against St. Margaret's in their previous head to head back in December of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 52-49 score last time.
Several Dolphins players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kayla Rice, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. The match was Rice's ninth in a row with at least ten points. Regan Akason was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Dana Hills' loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-3. As for St. Margaret's, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.
Dana Hills will be playing in front of their home fans against El Toro at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. El Toro will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 309th, while Dana Hills is ranked 79th). As for St. Margaret's, they will head out on the road to face off against Costa Mesa at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
