North Pontotoc won their last match against Independence, and it was the same story this time around. On Friday, North Pontotoc narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Independence 16-14.
Independence's loss came about despite a quality game from senior R.J. Wilson, who rushed for 101 yards and 1 touchdown. Additional support came from defensive powerhouse sophomore Javion McKinney, who racked up 13 tackles.
The win bumped North Pontotoc's record up to 5-0. The defeat dropped Independence's record to 2-3.
North Pontotoc will stay at home next week against Baldwyn at 7:00 PM. As for Independence, they will face off against Strayhorn.
