The Winter Park Wildcats waltzed into their matchup on Friday with three straight wins but they left with four. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Evans 55-24 at home. Given Winter Park's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while Evans is ranked 494th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Winter Park's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tyler Seay led the charge by scoring 11 points along with three steals. Calista Rand was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Evans' loss came despite strong showings from Jay James and Carmen Roundtree. James scored four points along with five steals, while Roundtree scored nine points along with seven rebounds.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Evans struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Winter Park racked up 16 assists.
Winter Park pushed their record up to 14-3 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.2 points per game. As for Evans, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-14.
