Torrey Pines has gone a perfect 7-0 against Canyon Crest Academy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Falcons will head out on the road to face off against the Ravens at 6:30 p.m. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Torrey Pines sitting on nine straight victories and Canyon Crest Academy on 36.
On Tuesday, Torrey Pines narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Poway 3-2.
Torrey Pines had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 22-25, 25-21, 28-26, 15-13.

Torrey Pines can attribute much of their success to Ben Brzenski, who had six digs and five aces. Those five aces gave Brzenski a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Griffin Dieter, who had 12 digs.
They weren't the only good server: Torrey Pines was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 13 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Canyon Crest Academy challenged Santa Fe Christian on Wednesday. The Ravens were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Eagles.
Canyon Crest Academy walked away with the victory (and looked especially good in the first set). Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-10, 25-16, 25-21.
Torrey Pines' record now sits at 30-6. As for Canyon Crest Academy, their win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 36-0.
Everything went Torrey Pines' way against Canyon Crest Academy in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as Torrey Pines made off with a 3-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Falcons since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
