Softball Recap: Canyon Lake Wins Going Away Against Bandera

Canyon Lake's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They blew past the Bandera BULLDOGS 15-3. Considering Canyon Lake has won five games by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Rianna Gonzales and Aubrey Long made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Gonzales tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Long didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Gonzales has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances. At bat, Gonzales scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4, while Long scored a run while going 2-for-4. Gonzales also put up a home run, which was her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hailey Bish, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three). Braelyn Rice was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Canyon Lake's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-10. As for Bandera, their loss was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-16.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Canyon Lake will square off against rival Wimberley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Bandera is set to challenge their familiar foe Fredericksburg at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
