The Wolfe City Wolves will head out on the road to face off against the Boles Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Wolfe City will be strutting in after a victory while Boles will be coming in after a defeat.
Last Thursday, Wolfe City took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 77-8 win over Como-Pickton. Given Wolfe City's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 560th, while Como-Pickton is ranked 1157th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Carson Herron continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 109 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries, while also throwing for 196 yards and four touchdowns. Cayden Herron also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 49 points the game before, Boles were a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They were outmatched by Honey Grove at home and fell 47-3. Boles was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-3.
Wolfe City has been no stranger to the win column this season, as they've started out with wins in six of their first seven contests, giving them a 6-1 record. Boles has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.
Wolfe City strolled past Boles in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 by a score of 34-18. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wolfe City since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
