Two dominant backs in Amari Thomas and Pious Reed are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Blountstown Tigers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Sneads Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Blountstown's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
On Friday, Blountstown took their contest with ease, bagging a 38-7 victory over W.S. Neal. Give the Tigers' offense some serious credit: that high-scoring performance was actually the fewest points they've scored all season.
Blountstown's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jaylen Jones led the charge by rushing for 57 yards and two scores, while also throwing for 27 yards and one TD.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Blountstown was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 293 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 155 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
Blountstown didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Cyion Smith and Aaden Williams.
The home team had won the previous four meetings between Sneads and Liberty County, and Liberty County kept the tradition alive. The Pirates were just a hair shy of victory on Friday and fell 21-20 to the Bulldogs. The Pirates were up 14-0 in the second quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.
Even if they lost, Sneads' defense still kept up the pressure with four sacks. Omari Hill was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself. He also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with eight.
Blountstown's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Sneads, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Blountstown has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 294 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Sneads struggles in that department as they've been averaging 286.6 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Blountstown against Sneads when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 38-3 victory. In that contest, the Tigers amassed a halftime lead of 32-3, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
