Northwestern has gone a perfect 6-0 against Fort Mill recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Trojans will be playing at home against the Yellow Jackets at 7:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Northwestern has three straight wins, Fort Mill has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Friday, Northwestern was fully in charge, breezing past Clover 52-24. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by 20 points or more this season.
Xavier Means was his usual excellent self, throwing for 331 yards and three TDs while completing 83.9% of his passes, and also rushing for 83 yards and a pair of scores. Northwestern's leading receiver Kameron Vance was Means' top target yet again, picking up 153 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Northwestern was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 252 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 159 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Northwestern's defense and their five sacks. Malik Darby refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself. Northwestern got some further help from Jeremiah Cannon: he picked up a sack and made nine total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, Fort Mill came up short against Rock Hill on Friday and fell 23-16.
Most of the squad's points came courtesy of special teams, who contributed 13 in total. All came from Noah Hardy: he went 4-for-4 kicking field goals for 12 points and added another on an extra point kick.
Fort Mill's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Northwestern, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.
Everything came up roses for Northwestern against Fort Mill in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 65-6 win. In that matchup, the Trojans amassed a halftime lead of 50-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
