The Holmes Huskies managed to keep up with the O'Connor Panthers until halftime on Saturday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Holmes ended up on the wrong side of a tough 62-37 walloping at the hands of O'Connor. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Holmes has suffered since December 6, 2023.
When it comes to explaining why Holmes lost, one person who can't be blamed is Darlene Doboyou. Despite the final result, she scored ten points along with five rebounds and two blocks. Another player making a difference was Theresa Carvalho, who scored four points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Casey Chavez continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for O'Connor, scoring 17 points along with nine rebounds and seven assists. Chavez has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Simone Pryor was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with three steals.
Holmes has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-16 record this season. As for O'Connor, the victory got them back to even at 12-12.
Holmes will head out on the road to square off against Warren at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Destiny Hernandez and Crystal Aragon. As for O'Connor, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Jay at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
