This season hasn't been kind to the Lowcountry Leadership NaviGators, who are still winless after their sixth match. They were outmatched by Colleton County on the road and fell 78-28. While losing is never fun, Lowcountry Leadership can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 287th, while Colleton County is ranked 101st).
Colleton County was led to victory by Da?veon Varner and Mykeem Gant. Varner scored 11 points along with eight steals, while Gant scored 15 points along with four steals. Those eight steals set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Melvin Powell, who scored 11 points.
Lowcountry Leadership bumped their record down to 0-6 with that loss, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Colleton County, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-4.
Lowcountry Leadership will head out on the road to face off against Cathedral Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cathedral Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight matchups -- so hopefully Lowcountry Leadership likes a good challenge. Colleton County will be home for the holidays to greet Fort Dorchester at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Fort Dorchester focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Friday.
