Basketball Recap: Lake Marion Comes Up Short

Lake Marion lost against Bridges Prep back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Lake Marion Gators fell to the Bridges Prep Buccaneers 78-74. The Gators have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Lake Marion lost, don't look at Mason Miles. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double with 31 points and ten boards. The dominant performance gave Miles a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah Smith, who went 6 of 14 en route to 17 points and four steals.

Bridges Prep's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was A Wilson, who dropped a double-double with 24 points and 18 rebounds. Wilson has been hot for a while, having posted 11 or more boards the last 23 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Q Young, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 14 assists.

Lake Marion's defeat dropped their record down to 12-9. As for Bridges Prep, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.

Lake Marion has already played their next game (against Edisto), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Bridges Prep, they are taking a road trip to face off against Hampton County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hampton County will roll in looking for their 12th straight win, something Bridges Prep surely won't give up without a fight.
