Thornton had won four straight on the road, but on Saturday they bumped up to 9-1-1 to make it five. They put the hurt on the Adams City Eagles with a sharp 21-4 win. The Trojans' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Izabella Groover made a splash no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. Groover was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Elenna Gray was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Sophia Ornelas, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Thornton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in October of 2024.
As for Adams City, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.4 runs over those games.
On Adams City's side, Areli Gutierrez was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Ruiz, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one triple.
Coming up, Thornton will square off against Northglenn at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Norsemen have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed ten runs per game on average), something the Trojans will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Adams City, they will be playing at home against Skyline at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
