Softball Recap: Weld Central Wins Going Away Against Fort Lupton

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Weld Central and Fort Lupton meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Wednesday. The Rebels were the clear victors by a 15-2 margin over the Bluedevils. The result was nothing new for the Rebels, who have now won six contests by 11 runs or more so far this season.

Jennisa Hale made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched six innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. Hale was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, one triple, and one double.

In other batting news, Ali Weber and Ally Landers did most of the damage at the plate: Weber went 4-for-5 with three runs and two RBI, while Landers went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs Landers has posted since back in August. Another player making a difference was Rylee Blair, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Weld Central's record is now 6-8. As for Fort Lupton, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Weld Central will host Platte Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Rebels' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Broncos have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season. As for Fort Lupton, they will welcome Alameda at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bluedevils' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pirates have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season.
