The Tallassee Tigers fought the good fight in their overtime match against the LaFayette Bulldogs on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Bulldogs 49-45. Tallassee has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
When it comes to explaining why Tallassee lost, one person who can't be blamed is Rowen Thornton . Despite the final result, he scored 19 points. Thornton scored a full 42.2% of Tallassee's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Ja?marrion McCoy was another key contributor, scoring 10 points.
Among those leading the charge was Branaviyun Story, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Vaderrian Story, who scored 15 points along with 4 blocks.
Tallassee's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for LaFayette, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tallassee will face off against Booker T. Washington Magnet at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for LaFayette, they will head out on the road to face off against Troup County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
