Bedford North Lawrence will be up against a hot Floyd Central squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Highlanders blew past Jeffersonville 16-6 on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Highlanders, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.
Adeline Shultz looked comfortable as she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Elise Coleman was a standout: she went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Emery Gibson, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs.
Floyd Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .558. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jeffersonville only posted an OBP of .269.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 14 runs the game before, Bedford North Lawrence was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They fell just short of Linton-Stockton by a score of 2-1. The matchup marked the Stars' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Bedford North Lawrence saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dalanie Davis, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.
Floyd Central's win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Bedford North Lawrence, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-5.
Floyd Central's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's contest. The Highlanders have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.7 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Bedford North Lawrence, though, as they've been averaging only 1.4 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Floyd Central continue to outrun the ball?
