The Hedgesville Eagles will be playing at home against the St. James Saints at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with six consecutive losses for Hedgesville and five for St. James.
Last Monday, Hedgesville suffered a rough 46-26 loss at the hands of Jefferson. That's two games in a row now that Hedgesville has lost by exactly 20 points.
Despite the defeat, Hedgesville saw an underclassman step up: Gracie Brown scored six points along with ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, St. James was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 53-47 to Clinton Grace.
Hedgesville's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-12. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.0 points per game. As for St. James, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-15 record this season.
Hedgesville strolled past St. James in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 by a score of 47-32. Does Hedgesville have another victory up their sleeve, or will St. James turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
