After flying high against the Buffalo Grove Bison on Friday, the Saint Viator Lions came back down to earth. The matchup between Saint Viator and the RedHawks wasn't particularly close, with the Lions falling 70-54. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Saint Viator of the 41-32 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in January.
Saint Viator's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mia Bergstrom, who scored 18 points. Bergstrom has been hot recently, having posted 18 or more points the last three times she's played. Kalin McCrea was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five steals.
Saint Viator has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 15 of their last 17 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-23 record this season. As for Marist, their victory bumped their record up to 10-20.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Saint Viator will take on the Caxys at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Lake Forest Academy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Lions in Illinois (the Caxys are ranked 149th, while the Lions are ranked 339th). As for Marist, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Roadrunners at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
