After a string of four wins, the Independence Falcons's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They received a tough blow as they fell 52-38 to Ridgeview. Independence has struggled against Ridgeview recently, as their contest on Wednesday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
When it comes to explaining why Independence lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kaylynn Bolden. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 21 points and 23 rebounds. Bolden hasn't dropped below two steals for 13 straight games. Another player making a difference was Olivia Fletcher, who scored nine points along with three steals.
Even though they lost, Independence smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 26 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ridgeview only pulled down 18 offensive rebounds.
Kenadi Walton continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Ridgeview, scoring 19 points along with nine rebounds and six steals. That's the first time this season that Walton scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyse Brooks, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds.
Independence's loss was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 7-10. As for Ridgeview, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Independence will take on Stockdale at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Stockdale is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak. As for Ridgeview, they will be playing at home against Highland at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Highland will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1211th, while Ridgeview is ranked 491st).
