The Liberty Lions posted their biggest win yet this season on Friday. They blew past Pittsburg 72-36 on the road. With that win, Liberty brought their scoring average up to 51 points per game.
Liberty's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Madison Perea led the charge by dropping a double-double on 28 points and 15 rebounds. Perea is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Shyanne Smith, who scored 20 points along with two steals.
Yariah Asidanya and Ali Tautolo certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Asidanya scored ten points along with nine rebounds and two steals, while Tautolo scored 14 points.
Pittsburg struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Liberty racked up 17 assists.
Liberty is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 10-9 record this season. As for Pittsburg, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-12.
Liberty won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Caruthers at 12:30 p.m. on January 20th. Caruthers is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Pittsburg, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Antioch at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Antioch is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
