Softball Recap: Vicksburg Wins Going Away Against Plainwell

Vicksburg won the last time they faced Plainwell and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Bulldogs were the clear victors by a 14-3 margin over the Trojans. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won ten contests by nine runs or more so far this season.

Kayla Chisholm and Lena Lancaster did most of the damage at the plate: Chisholm went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Lancaster went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI Chisholm has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Emily Zemitans, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base.

The win made it two in a row for Vicksburg and bumps their season record up to 13-15. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Plainwell, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-24.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Vicksburg will square off against Gull Lake at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. As for Plainwell, they will face off against Galesburg-Augusta at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Rams have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.87 runs per game on average), something the Trojans will no doubt try to take advantage of.
