Five-star high school basketball prospect Tajh Ariza announces transfer to Southern California powerhouse

Son of 18-year NBA veteran Trevor Ariza will team up with Brandon McCoy Jr. and Christian Collins at St. John Bosco, giving the Braves three of the top four recruits in the nation.

According to a report by Eric Sondheimer of the Los Angeles Times, five-star high school basketball prospect Tajh Ariza is leaving Westchester (Los Angeles) and will play his senior season at St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.). 

The move makes Bosco a superteam of sorts as Ariza will join fellow Class of 2026 five-stars Brandon McCoy Jr. and Christian Collins. All three are ranked in the top four nationally according to 247Sports.

Ariza is the son of 18-year NBA veteran Trevor Ariza, who was a four-star prospect at Westchester in the Class of 2003.

Tajh averaged around 27 points, 14 rebounds and five assists per game last season as Westchester reached the quarterfinals of the Division II state tournament. He earned MaxPreps Junior All-America second team honors.
Listed at 6-foot-9 and 180 pounds, Ariza is rated as the No. 4 overall player in the country according to 247Sports.

St. John Bosco went 26-7 in 2024-25 and finished ranked among the top 50 nationally.

McCoy is ranked No. 2 in the class and averaged 16.8 points, 6.1 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 3.8 steals last season.

Collins is the No. 3 recruit in the country with averages of 13.3 points and 9.7 boards per game. His father DeAngelo was a McDonald's All American in 2002 and declared for that year's NBA Draft. He went undrafted but played more than a decade overseas.
