Texas high school football: State passing, rushing and receiving yardage leaders

According to statistics submitted to MaxPreps, Logan Jenkins of Collinsville leads Texas high school football in passing with 1,924 yards during a 4-1 start for the Pirates. The 5-foot-10 senior completed 21 of 27 passes for 376 yards and six touchdowns in a 63-21 win over Lindsay a week ago. 

For the year, Jenkins has completed 143 of 192 passes for 22 touchdowns to just three interceptions. Jenkins unleashed a season-high 463-yard, five-touchdown performance in a 51-14 win over Blue Ridge on Sept. 1. For his career, Jenkins has passed for 7,630 yards and 92 touchdowns to just 26 interceptions. The dual-threat signal caller has also run for 1,223 yards and 18 touchdowns.

The Lone Star State's top runner is Edgar Deluna of Sonora with 1,307 yards for the 5-0 Broncos. Deluna is averaging 17.2 yards per carry and has scored 19 times. He ran for 342 yards and four touchdowns in a 53-22 win over Harper last week.

Jaydon Smith of Ingleside leads the state in receiving yardage with 825 yards on just 26 catches for the 5-0 Mustangs. The 6-foot senior has topped 140 yards receiving in all five games and has scored 16 times this fall. His season-high effort of seven catches for 189 yards and four touchdowns helped the Mustangs to a 58-6 win over Aransas Pass on Sept. 1.
