Basketball Recap: Pickens Sets Scoring Season-High Against Easley

Pickens scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They lost to the Easley Green Wave at home by a 76-57 margin. While losing is never fun, the Blue Flame can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 203rd, while the Green Wave are ranked 49th).

Despite the loss, Pickens still got an impressive performance from Riley Owens, who almost dropped a triple-double on nine points, nine steals, and nine blocks. Another player making a difference was Gavin Mock, who went 8 for 16 on his way to 18 points.

Even though they lost, Pickens was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January.

Ethan Crews was his usual excellent self, going 8 of 18 on his way to 24 points and seven boards for Easley. The contest was Crews' fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rj Stack, who went 6 of 8 on his way to 16 points.

Pickens is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7. As for Easley, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.

Pickens and Asheville School (Independent) will compete for holiday cheer at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. Pickens has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Easley will take on Wren in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
