The Cumby Trojans lost against the North Hopkins Panthers back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Cumby had to suffer through a rough 71-39 loss at the hands of North Hopkins. While losing is never fun, Cumby can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1333rd, while North Hopkins is ranked 448th).
Despite the loss, Cumby still got an impressive performance from Chett Vaughan, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds. Vaughan hasn't dropped below 17 points for three straight games. Chayton Vaughan was another key contributor, scoring four points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Cumby has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-17 record this season. As for North Hopkins, the win (which was their 13th in a row) raised their record to 24-6.
Cumby will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Como-Pickton at 6:30 p.m. Cumby is facing Como-Pickton at the right time seeing as Como-Pickton is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for North Hopkins, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 74-53 defeat vs. Tyler HEAT on the 12th.
