The Archbishop Hoban Knights are taking a road trip to take on the Independence Blue Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Archbishop Hoban is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.
On Monday, Archbishop Hoban made easy work of North Royalton and carried off a 3-0 win.
Archbishop Hoban never let North Royalton on the board, but things got pretty close in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 25-10, 25-6, 25-22.
Meanwhile, Independence got the win against Brooklyn on Tuesday by a conclusive 3-0.
Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Independence took every set by at least 18 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-5, 25-5, 25-7.
Archbishop Hoban better keep an eye on Sofia Pichert. She was instrumental in Independence's win, getting six aces and five digs. What's more, Pichert posted five assists, the most she's had over her last 12 contests.
Independence was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 24 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in four consecutive matches.
Archbishop Hoban's record now sits at 16-4. As for Independence, their record is now 15-5.
Archbishop Hoban took their victory against Independence when the teams last played back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
