The Garfield Bulldogs will take on the Legacy Tigers at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Garfield sitting on eight straight victories and Legacy on three.
Last Friday, Garfield made easy work of Huntington Park and carried off a 21-8 win. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won six games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Nadia Carrillo made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and five RBI. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Garfield got a massive performance out of Valerie Valencia, who scored three runs and stole five bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Those five stolen bases gave Valencia a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddie Velasco, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Garfield kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Legacy challenged South East on Friday. The Tigers never let the Jaguars get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory. Considering the Tigers have won eight matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Savannah Medina made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 16 over six innings pitched. Medina was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Katelen Pedroza and Natalie Gonzalez did most of the damage at the plate: Pedroza went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one double, and one RBI, while Gonzalez scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1. Another player making a difference was Adamary Leon, who scored a run while going 2-for-5.
Legacy pushed their record up to 11-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Garfield, their record is now 9-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Garfield has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Legacy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Garfield's way against Legacy when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Garfield made off with an 11-3 win. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
