If the Langston Hughes Panthers were feeling good off their 58-19 takedown of the Alexander Cougars last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Langston Hughes took a 59-44 bruising from New Manchester on Wednesday. Langston Hughes was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as New Manchester apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Langston Hughes lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kylar-Rae Johnson, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Johnson hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Kyla Greene, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
New Manchester was led to victory by Andrea Guilford #1 and Jocelyn Faison. Guilford #1 scored 19 points along with six rebounds, while Faison scored 21 points along with six rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Guilford #1 has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Amaya Broadus #23, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Langston Hughes' defeat dropped their record down to 19-6. As for New Manchester, the win (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 20-4.
Langston Hughes does not have any more games scheduled as of now. New Manchester also has no future games currently scheduled.
