The Owen Warhorses's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They were dealt a 75-44 defeat at the hands of Rosman. Owen has not had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Despite the loss, Owen still got an impressive performance from Ellie Martin, who almost dropped a double-double on 24 points and nine rebounds. Martin is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed five or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Mia Roland, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Marlee Carnathan was nothing short of spectacular for Rosman: she scored 22 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Carnathan has scored all season. Aniya Swartz was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Owen has traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 11 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-18 record this season. As for Rosman, they pushed their record up to 17-4 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Owen will take on the at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. NCSSM: Morganton comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 17 points in their last 13 games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Rosman, they will head out on the road to square off against the Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Draughn is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
