The St. Stephens Indians's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 74-67 hit to the loss column at the hands of East Lincoln. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Friday (62), St. Stephens still had to take the loss.
St. Stephens lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Hayden Hillman, who scored 15 points along with four steals. Javian White was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with two steals.
Grant Lawless was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 30 points and 14 rebounds for East Lincoln. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lawless has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jackson Fannon, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds.
St. Stephens bumped their record down to 7-7 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for East Lincoln, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Stephens will take on Hickory at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hickory is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. As for East Lincoln, they will be playing at home against West Iredell at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. West Iredell will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 630th, while East Lincoln is ranked 184th).
