Baseball Recap: Centennial Takes a Loss

If Centennial was feeling good fresh off their 17-4 takedown of The Meadows School last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Centennial fell 12-7 to the Palo Verde Panthers on Monday. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Panthers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Kobe Peterson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one triple. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Jackson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.

Peterson wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Centennial lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Centennial's defeat dropped their record down to 13-7. As for Palo Verde, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.

While Centennial had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
