Baseball Recap: Airport Extends Winning Streak to Four

Airport waltzed into their match on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Gray Collegiate Academy War Eagles, sneaking past 3-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 4-0 last Monday.

Cash Epps spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Airport saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Landon Jeffcoat, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double. That stolen base was Jeffcoat's first of the season.

Airport's record is now 15-3. As for Gray Collegiate Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-8.

Looking ahead, Airport will take on River Bluff in a tournament on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Eagles 2.7, the Gators 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Gray Collegiate Academy, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Gilbert at 6:00 p.m. on the 22nd.
