Softball Recap: Logan Wins High-Profile Game Against Syracuse

Logan faced Syracuse in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Grizzlies were the clear victors by a 15-7 margin over the Titans. Considering the Grizzlies have won eight matchups by more than seven runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Cambree Cooper was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, one triple, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emma Bracken, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Leila Pauni was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Logan was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They are 8-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The victory snapped Logan's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 12-11 record. As for Syracuse, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 11-8.

Coming up, Logan will challenge Ridgeline at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Syracuse, they will take on Fremont at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
