After a string of three wins, the Olympus Titans's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They were the victim of a rough 65-41 loss at the hands of West. Olympus was down 52-29 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
When it comes to explaining why Olympus lost, one person who can't be blamed is Joss Baker. Despite the final result, she scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. That was a full 36.6% of Olympus' points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Lily Smith, who scored nine points.
West's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Fina Tuha, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Tuha is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Kylee Falatea was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.
Olympus' loss dropped their record down to 9-9. As for West, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-5.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Brighton the next time they take the court. West will head out to face Brighton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Olympus will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
