Glendora is 9-1 against Ayala since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Glendora Tartans will head out on the road to face off against the Ayala Bulldogs at 5:45 p.m. Glendora is looking to tack on another W to their nine-game streak on the road.
Glendora proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 56) but on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 51-48 victory over Bonita. Given Glendora's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 47th, while Bonita is ranked 128th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Glendora relied on the efforts of Addison Martin, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds, and Rylie Anderson, who scored 16 points along with three steals. Anderson is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Ronnie Herrmann was another key contributor, scoring six points along with two steals.
Ayala suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Wednesday. They were outmatched by Claremont at home and fell 68-21. Ayala was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-9.
Glendora's victory bumped their record up to 20-2. As for Ayala, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Glendora against Ayala when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 65-18 victory. With Glendora ahead 41-6 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
