Basketball Recap: Jaylen Waters Key Part of a Team Effort in Eagles Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Bethune-Bowman, Military Magnet Academy was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They strolled past the Branchville Yellow Jackets with points to spare, taking the game 56-40. This was payback for the Eagles, who suffered a 50-48 loss the last time these two teams met.

Military Magnet Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jaylen Waters out in front who went 5 for 12 on his way to 12 points along with six boards and four steals. Waters has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Malachi Scott, who posted 14 points.

Military Magnet Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Branchville lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Kyran Glover, who put up 11 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcus Felder, who had 11 points.

The victory snapped Military Magnet Academy's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-11 record. As for Branchville, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.

Military Magnet Academy will take on St. John's at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. Military Magnet Academy is facing St. John's at the right time seeing as St. John's is stuck on an 11-game losing streak. As for Branchville, they will challenge Bethune-Bowman at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bethune-Bowman will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Branchville surely won't give up without a fight.
