The Porter Ridge Pirates's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. They fell 67-55 to Hickory Ridge. While losing is never fun, Porter Ridge can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 458th, while Hickory Ridge is ranked 27th).
Samaj Long and Rai'shawn Elmore certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Long scored 29 points along with 5 assists, while Elmore scored 12 points along with 6 rebounds.
The last time Porter Ridge won on the road was back last Friday. Having now lost four straight away matchups, they've bumped their record down to 1-7. As for Hickory Ridge, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Porter Ridge will challenge Forest Hills at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hickory Ridge, they will head out on the road to face off against Sun Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
