The Rio Vista Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight loss. They were outmatched by Frost at home and fell 58-18. While losing is never fun, Rio Vista can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1270th, while Frost is ranked 388th).
Despite the defeat, Rio Vista saw an underclassman step up: Shiloh Johnson scored six points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Frost to victory, but perhaps none more so than Karlee Anderson, who scored 17 points along with nine rebounds and five steals. Anderson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Brenda Manrriquez, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds.
Rio Vista has been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-21 record this season. As for Frost, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 21-4.
Rio Vista will head out on the road to challenge Itasca at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Itasca is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. Frost will take on Hamilton at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Hamilton is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
